Founder and Chief Learning Officer
Dr. Jenn Overstreet
Jenn leads the learning behind Bright Spiral Literacy.
With more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, school leader, and university instructor, she brings deep expertise to every part of the Bright Spiral approach.
Jenn oversees assessments, instruction, curriculum, and family guidance. She looks beyond scores and surface-level struggles to understand how each child reads, what has shaped their learning, and what needs to happen next.
Her goal is simple: give kids the skills, confidence, and intellectual appetite to become dangerously literate.
Chief Strategy and Operations Officer
James Overstreet
James builds the systems behind Bright Spiral Literacy.
He oversees business operations, technology, strategy, and the processes that keep everything working smoothly. From maintaining digital platforms to improving client systems and planning for long-term growth, James turns ideas into practical structures.
His work gives Jenn more space to focus on children, families, and instruction while Bright Spiral continues to grow with care and purpose.
Chief Fluff Officer
Chewy
Chewy oversees team morale, mandatory movement breaks, and snack quality control.
A Lagotto Romagnolo with strong opinions about meeting length, he reminds the team to step away from their screens, get outside, and leave room for play.
He has never completed a literacy assessment, but he remains confident in his executive judgment.

Bright Spiral Literacy is growing beyond its founders.
Taylor, our Client Support Specialist, keeps the day-to-day work organized and moving forward through scheduling, communication, and client coordination. Current and prospective families will often hear from Taylor first.
We are also building a carefully selected team of literacy specialists who share our commitment to evidence-based instruction, thoughtful assessment, and responsive support for every child.
As Bright Spiral grows, these specialists will allow us to serve more elementary students around the world and offer lesson times suited to families across different time zones.
Every specialist works within the Bright Spiral approach and receives clear guidance, established systems, and ongoing oversight from Jenn. This allows us to expand access without lowering the standard of care families expect from us.
